SPENDING: Virginia lawmakers approve budget for COVID-19 relief money

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia lawmakers gave final approval Monday to a spending plan for most of the state’s $4.3 billion in federal coronavirus relief money, including funding for initiatives aimed at helping small businesses, increasing broadband access and replenishing the state’s depleted unemployment trust fund.


JUDGES: Virginia Democrats reshape Court of Appeals with eight new appointments

Virginia Democrats quadrupled the number of Black judges and doubled the number of women on the state’s Court of Appeals with the election of eight new judges Tuesday.

Members of the party said the selections would make the court the most diverse in the state’s history.
